Tobias Renggli
Tobi (born 2003) from Buchrain near Lucerne is studying health sciences and technology at ETH Zurich, but tends to be found above the tree line more often than at university and is always up for an adventure. At the age of 16, he became U20 Swiss mountain running champion, was then selected for the Swiss national mountain running squad and took part in the European Mountain Running Championships.
After two successful mountain running seasons, he felt in the winter of 2020 that aching legs and burning lungs were not all this sport and the mountains had to offer him. At the time, he was writing his 200-page Matura thesis with the title “Tour dör d'Schwiiz”, for which he rode his road bike to all 250 cities in Switzerland and climbed the highest mountain in all 26 cantons on foot. This project became the inspiration for his “Bikepacking Europe” adventure, for which he traveled through 44 European countries on his own power in 2022 between matura, military service and university, visiting the capital and climbing the highest mountain in each country. Tobi likes to combine performance sport, adventure, photography and travel, shares his experiences on Instagram, gives key-note speeches and works in event management alongside his studies.
